Complementary and alternative medicine are medicines and health practices that are not usually used by doctors to treat cancer. this mainly involves the alternatative therapeutic and treatment processes such as message meditation, prayers , nutritional supplements , herbal medicine and thrapies. the most common method of complementary and alternative medicine in ghana is the tradtional treatment which is mostly practiced in many part of africa.Traditional medicine refers to health practices, approaches, knowledge and beliefs incorporating plant, animal and mineral based medicines, spiritual therapies, manual techniques and exercises, applied singularly or in combination to treat, diagnose and prevent illnesses or maintain well-being. the commonest form of traditional treatment in ghana is the herbal medicine and is widely used in ghana for treatment and diagnoses many illness. in addition to this information, i formed a survey in order to obtain further information on the use of complementary and alternative information in ghana by interacting with some targeted patient at the hospital .using the guideines for specific research objective points, we created a survey to acess how ghanaians use CAM over the orthodox medicine in the treatment of diseases in ghana. in the following paragraphs we will explain the details our research objectives , the mehod and design used for the survey.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
the researach objective is to intreact with patients about how they prefer or use of complementary and alternative medicine to the orthodox treatment.
method
i plan to conduct a survey based on thse key factors . first we will survey a sample of patients from different herbal hospitals in kumasi ghana. the sample will include people will visit the hospital for treatment, and the health workers over there. in order to to make the survey related to our research purposes, we will create a questionnaire that people at the hospital to share thier personal informations such as marital status, educational background , occupation, the condition they are seeking treatment for, how long they have been diagnosed of disease, , the system management they used for their treatment and why they used CAM and the types and sources of complementary and alternative medicine they used.
