William Butler Yeats, whose works are created in distinguished writing style, is always at the center of the worldwide debate. His style is the focal point of the continuous discussion. Yeats was already well-known for his romanticism creation in the early years, while in the middle phase, there came a great conversion of his writing style. Yeats once criticized the structure and phrasing of the modernism poets but his later poetry were full of footprints of modernism. Reasons of this change has also come into the sight of the critics. Although there are different opinions, his personal life and social activities could be the main driving forces.

The book A Vision(1925) by Yeats has illustrated his thoughts of writing. While not definite and detailed, it can help to understand his later works and his thinking system of mysticism. Mask theory in The Man and the Masks by Richard Ellmann appeared to define one of Yeatsrsquo; contributions to modernism. Yeatsrsquo;s modernity by He Ning focus on the identity of Yeats as a modernist or as a modern poet. Even though the national character has got in his way of being a modernist, there is no doubt that Yeatsrsquo;s poetry are possessed of modernism features. W. B. Yeatsrsquo;s Modernity Revisited by Hu Zeyuan also discussed the identity of Yeats, which elaborates the definition of modernism, Yeatsrsquo;s influence on modernism, Yeatsrsquo;s attitudes towards modernism and the modernity in Yeatsrsquo;s poetry. Writing the life of the text -- the case of W. B. Yeats by Warwick Gould made a comparison between the change of the poetrsquo;s life and the transformation of the his writing style. Also, Yeatsrsquo;s”Sailing to Byzantium” and “Byzantium”:Variations of a Byzantine Song by Young Suck Rhee emphasized the influence of the poetrsquo;s health condition.

To understand the life and the style of a poet, it is essential to read his works. Critics regard The Wind Among the Reeds(1899) as the last book of Yeatsrsquo;s early phase. This collection of poems includes typical works of romanticism. In the Seven Woods(1903) collected the poems of his middle age, which revealed the conversion of the poetrsquo;s writing style. Autobiographies(1938) by Yeats provide the critics with more knowledge about his life and his thought. Accordingly, more information about Yeatsrsquo;s personal experience can be acquired through the reading.

There comes my view on this topic that personal experience drives the style of creation. That is a universally accepted point that details decide. What an individual experiences must influence on what he feels and what he thinks. The establishment of world outlook results from the accumulation of experiences in the personal and social life.
